Macau - Lights in the midst of History

I wish the time we spent in Macau last May was longer but since my friends can only go on a 3 day trip for HK - Macau, I just had to do with a day trip.

The day after we arrived HK, we headed to the China Ferry Terminal at Tsim Sha Tsui. It was just a short distance walk from Evergreen Hotel to the terminal. At first we thought it was a bit far but the Pinay who was working at the Western Union booth we saw told us that it was not that far. when we got to the terminal we found out that several ferries where stationed there. As we were running late, we choose the one whose boat was going to leave soon so we ended up buying from First Ferries.

It was almost lunch time when we left Hong Kong. The ride was smoother than I have expected. I was never a fan of small boats but this one was okay.

We got the first glimpse of Macau at around 1pm.

And although it was already May, the weather was not that hot. It was gloomy in fact -- we wished it will not rain. Immigration was slow, so slow that it took as an hour to get thru. We did not expect that it would take us a long time to get our passports stamped since we thought that Macau is used to having lot's of visitors. Naturally, we thought that they would have a more efficient way of handling a huge influx of visitors at the immigration area. Or maybe we there were just too many visiting the place.

Anyway, here are some of the places we've been too.

It fascinated me that one place can be so historical and yet when you turn around you can see all the lights and glamour of the casinos.

With the unorganized pics I've posted and the lack of narration so goes my thoughts on Macau. That means I really need to go back. Maybe next time I will be able to share more. ;)
